“I was today years old when…”

Odds are you’ve seen more than one meme like this in your social feeds.

While they are often good for a smile, the fact that there is always something for us to learn is undeniable…and good practice!

In the spirit of “it’s never too late to learn” here are some tips to help you save time, money and your skin.

Cleanse Your Face Using Tepid Water

Tepid is not hot. Nor is it cold. It’s right in between. For facial washing, the best water temperature is warm. Hot water can strip the face of its natural, protective oils and irritate skin. Cold water may not loosen daily grime and debris, like makeup, effectively.

Wash Your Brushes and Pillowcases Weekly

Want to keep bacterial and fungal growth at bay? Clean your brushes regularly as recommended by the American Academy of Dermatologists.

Powder brushes can use a cleaning every 7-10 days and more frequently for sponges and brushes used to apply liquid and cream makeup.

At the end of the day, Dead skin cells, sweat and any excess makeup can gather on your pillowcases and sheets. They can attract unpleasant things you would not likely want near your face…including dust mites. Changing your pillowcases regularly can help prevent breakouts, flare ups clogged pores.

Use Leftover Product on Back of Hands

This one comes from the philosophy of “Waste not. Want not.” But, really it just makes good sense to help your products do the most good and give your skin a little extra TLC. Rather than washing away excess cleanser, moisturizer or serums, try massaging into the backs of your hands…especially at night when your skin will have more time to absorb.  And, do not forget you neck, throat and decolletage as part of your regular regimen!

Remember Your SPF

If you are going to be outside, plan to protect your skin from the sun. Sunscreen works best when applied directly to clean skin, after cleansing and moisturizing. Give the sunscreen a few minutes to dry and sink into your skin before starting to apply any makeup or color products.

Beautiful Skin at Any Age

Apply Serums in Order from Thinnest to Thickest

Order matters! If you use multiple serums, apply from thinnest to thickest. This can help absorption and wear and basically lets the formulations work as intended. Depending on the serum, it may be important that it’s only used during the day, or only used in the evening. Following our recommended usage instructions ensures the best results.
